Hi All,

I have set up a new system. It has been cycling for about 3 weeks now. The tank is 60cm X 46cm X 46cm, with a sump 70cm X 35cm X 35.

I haven't turn turned on the skimmer yet, but i'll probably start using that next week.

I'll some photos as things progress.

Cheers,

Scott.

seen your sump pict, the skimmer is off. is it on purpose that you don't run the skimmer?
@kiev,

For this new tank i used dried rock and because i didn't expect any decomposition going on, I added a few pieces of raw shrimp into the tank to give it a start with ammonia. Since I wanted the protein to stay in the system to be converted into ammonia, I didn't turn on the skimmer.

In the long run, I definitely intend to use a skimmer. However, I have been following this guy (check out the youtube video) and he is not planning to use a skimmer in his new set-up. It will be interesting to see how things turn out for him.
